YNAB Fan Video
This is the first product of the creative projects I’ve worked on. I’ve been a big fan of YNAB for a couple years now ever since I became financially independent and needed to find a way to track my expenses and pay a bunch of bills. Wanting to get started quickly, I ran through a couple iterations of a script and, once satisfied, began editing. I realized quickly my experience with Premiere Pro by itself was not going to make for a very successful video, so I opened After Effects, found some tutorials, and went to work.
While it’s a little rough around the edges in a few places, I’m very happy with the final product. I learned how to animate to a script and got the basics of a very powerful video editor under my belt. That said, this video took nearly 40 hours to complete from start to finish (I timed myself whenever working on it, so those are a solid 40 hours), and I found the production cycle to be a bit tedious. I learned this is not quite the format I wish to create, but I’m happy to have the experience, and even more happy that the video made it into the hands of the social media manager at YNAB.
I thank my roommate for knowing how to twitter, which I am also going to get the hang of in the coming months. All in all it was a good experience, and I’m looking forward to working on the next projects even more.
